This story came about after my little boy looked sad when I was tucking him into bed one evening. He told me that lots of people at school liked football but that he ‘couldn’t like it’.
In turn this made me feel sad and I told him that I understood why he might feel like this. But also, that he should remember all of the things that he does love to do, and that it is important to celebrate what makes us different.
I started creating the storyboard the next day, telling the tale of a young girl who didn’t feel that she was quite like other people.
It turned into a book which serves as a celebration of individuality, reminding us all that we should try to compare ourselves less to others, and focus more on the things that make us so special.

What a beautiful story about different people and different talents, showing that no one is good at everything but everyone is good at something!
The illustrations I think are wonderful for younger children to connect to.
I can’t wait to share this with my class soon!
